About Us
The Yorkshire Foundation, working with the Yorkshire community, exists to encourage and support real improvement through community initiatives, mainly within the county but also outside of it. Its aims are:
- To promote, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions, any charitable purpose for the benefit of the inhabitants of the United Kingdom and, in particular, those of the county of Yorkshire.
- To bring together inhabitants, local authorities and voluntary or other organisations in a common effort to provide relief from financial hardship and social and/or economic disadvantage.
- To advance education in Yorkshire and in the UK in general.
- To provide opportunities for people to participate fully in the lives of their communities.
- To promote urban and rural regeneration in areas of social and economic deprivation, through the following means:
- The relief of unemployment
- The maintenance, improvement and provision of public amenities
- The preservation of buildings or sites of historic or architectural importance
- The protection or conservation of the environment.
